21st April 2013 - 감자탕 for dinner ^^

Met up with one of my girl friend from SG for dinner at Myeongdong. Since she has no preference, I suggested 감자탕 for dinner becos 감자탕 Gamjatang is one of my favourite Korean dish ㅎㅎㅎ

Oh Oh!  They have serving of the bone soup for one person as well ^^
Good news for me.

Small is just nice for two people. I ordered 계란말이 as well ^^

Yummy!!!  Not spicy ^^
Some people do not like the smell of this soup but we loved it!!

맛있네!

My all time favourite simple food, 계란말이 Gyeran-mari (Egg roll)  ^^

21st April 2013 - King Sejong, my idol.

The King Sejong Statue was erected at the center of Gwanghwamun Square on Hangeul Day (October 9) of 2009. The King is best remembered as the inventor of Hangul. Foreigners should check out King Sejong Story which is just a passage behind the Statue of King Sejong. At King Sejong Story, one will learnt some of the king’s most astounding contributions to the development of Korea as a nation. Gwanghwamun Square is a place which I will always recommend to my friends, if they asked me for places to visit in Seoul. To me, Hangul is just so amazing.

I went to check out the fountain after getting some cute stationery from Kyobo for my niece and colleagues.

Statue of Admiral Yi Sunshin facing the statue of King Sejong on Gwanghwamun Square. It is really beautiful here at night. Besides the fountain, you can see colorful spotlights on the ground. Well, I am not sure if there is any specific timing for the fountain or spotlights but I saw them during my visits. On top of this, Gyeongbokgung(I think) is behind the statue of King Sejong. The palace looks really gorgeous at night and it seems to be a good spot to capture a picture of the beautiful palace from across the road..

21st April 2013 - An afternoon at Buam dong

I proceeded to Sanmotoonge 산모퉁이 after lunch.
I noticed some changes along the way, such as this new restaurant.

I thought this was interesting, 고진감래 苦 盡 甘 來.
Surprisingly, 재 also mention about 고진감래 when we met up the following day.

Will I reach here if I had advanced further up to the peak of Inwangsan??
I don't know.

Much to my surprise, I reached  Sanmotoonge 산모퉁이 in about 5-10 mins.
It felt so much faster as compared to my first visit.

???????

???????

I am back ^^

나의홍차 라떼와 초코치즈 ^^
My Black Tea Latte and Choco Cheese.

I took the seat on the third storey.
Didn't really like the place this time becos the place was too packed when I reached.

After my tea break, I moved on to Baeksasil Valley.
I turned to my left as I came out from
Sanmotoonge 산모퉁이.
Errmmm....somehow..I never got there and before I realised it, I was already at the main road
ㅠㅠ ㅠㅠ

Following the sign....

A guest house.

Happened to be a filming ground as well?

Still following the sign...

Happily admiring the surroundings as I walked down the slope...

The residents have to walk up and down the slope everyday..

안녕!!

It was down slope all the way..

Before I know it, I have reached the main road!
Where is the valley?!
I have missed Baeksasil Valley  ㅠㅠ ㅠㅠ
괜찮습니다. I will proceed to my next stop, Kyobo at Gwanghwamun.

This bus stop name is, "하림각 Halimgak".
I checked the bus directory before I crossed the road.
I am not very sure but it didn't seem right to take bus from there.

Hence, I crossed the road.
This is the bus stop across the road.
I think I have to take my bus from here.

The red dot indicates the current bus stop ie 하림각.
I took 7022 from Gyeongbokgung Station.
Should I take the same bus back to the station??

This building is located opposite the bus stop where I took my bus.
One bus came along. I checked the directory and quickly board the bus.

The bus ride was very fast.
About 10 mins to reach 경복궁역 Gyeongbokgung Station.
This bus stop is opposite the bus stop where I took 7022 to Buam Dong.

The arrow is pointing to bus stop, "하림각"
There must be a reason why I took this picture.
Which bus did I took to get back to
Gyeongbokgung Station??
Ooppss. I am not sure as well!!  Was it bus no. 1020 or 1711?
Oh dear, I realised I did not record anything in my travel journal for my trip in Seoul this time...

Saw Popeyes after I got off the bus.

The way down to the subway station.

21st April 2013 - 비빔국수 for lunch ^^

I reached Buam Dong at around 1.30pm. Lunch at CHEERS first before I proceed to Sanmotoonge 산모퉁이. Yes, I'm going back to the cafe for a second time cos I like the ambiance ^^  Directions to Buam Dong can be found in my earlier post by clicking this link Getting to Buam Dong.

Huh?? No more CHEERS fried chicken??
I have been looking forward to it...
So sad
ㅠㅠ ㅠㅠ
The shop has changed its name and it looked deserted inside.

Saw this a few steps further down the former CHEERS eatery.
Decided to have lunch at 정영선멸치국수 Jeongyoungseon anchovy noodles.

Donkatsu is on the second level. Jeongyoungseon anchovy noodles is at the first level.

1) 멸치국수 Anchovy noodles KRW6000
2) 비빔국수 Bibim Guksu KRW7000
3) 손수제비 Sujebi KRW10,000 (I wonder if they mean handmade sujebi)
4) 도토리묵무침 Seasoned acorn KRW14,000 (This is like a salad to me Yum Yum ^^)
5) 녹두전 Nokdujeon Mung Bean Pancake KRW15,000
6) 순수보쌈 Bossam Steamed/Roasted pork slices KRW 33,000 (Not sure what exactly is 순수보쌈 though)

I ordered 비빔국수 Bibim Guksu although many people ordered 멸치국수 Anchovy noodles.

A bit spicy for me but it was really delicious ^^
The kimchi banchan was also just as good!
