8 Oct 2012 - Staying at Seoul Green Residence(Myeongdong)

Check in time was 1pm.  After lunch, I went back to Seoul Green Residence at 2pm to check in.  This time, I saw my name on the check in list.  My room number was 1713.

First impression of the place was ok.

All the rooms were located on 17th storey.

I paid KRW60000 per room per night for single room.  There are only two things which I liked about this place.  Firstly, they used digital lock system.  Secondly, the location is smacked in the middle of Myeongdong.  There are two subway stations nearby, namely Myeongdong and Euljiro 1(il)-ga.  I felt Myeongdong station, exit 8 is nearer but exit 8 was sealed up when I was there.  Hence, exit 9 would be the nearest.  I think Euljiro 1(il)-ga, exit 5 & 6 is only about 2 mins more of walking time as compared to Myeongdong, exit 9.

From all the online reviews, I knew the room would be small but I never expect it to be so cramped especially the bathroom...There is also a mini room available. I can't imagine how cramped that would be. Well, a small room space is not a big issue for me as a solo traveller.  The room looks cosy but it does not feel cosy at all.  There is no wardrobe but only a clothes stand to hang your clothing in this room. I encountered something which made me decide that I wouldn't stay here in future anymore.  You will see why on day 7, 13 Oct 2012.

This is also another thing that I disliked about staying here. The staff told me if it gets too cold, just turn the knob to close the fins. Huhh???  There was no remote control. I have to climb up and down the table to do this...!!  No offence but if you are on the heavy side, do be careful becos the table is not very sturdy. The bed was too far to reach it and it was not safe to stand on the chair since it rolls. Some online reviews said that the room tends to get very stuffy but thank god it was not stuffy for me even when I  turned the knob to close up the fins.  Hence, I need to climb up the table only once...
There were two of such air condition holes on the ceiling.  I closed up one becos the other one does not seem to have any cold air coming into the room.  However, I was wrong.  It got very cold in the middle of the night and I had to close up the fins for the other one as well.  Fortunately, I was able to reach the other air condition hole by standing on my bed  -_-

Basically, my shower is also the same position where I brushed my teeth...
I got used to it at the end of my stay...

The towl is so small and thin. Its only about an arm's length. Ya..you can say I'm being fussy...I think I paid KRW60000 for the location.

Two towels of the same size were provided but I felt the towels were not very clean.  Ok, maybe that's my own perception.  Fortunately, I always bring my own travel toothbrush set...

Common dinning area.

Guests can cook here.  Of course, you need to clean up the place and your own dishes thereafter.

No teapot is provided in the room.  You can get your own water from here. I come here to throw my rubbish everyday. There's no housekeeping unless you stay for 10 days..

Pots, pans and cutlery were kept inside the cabinet.

Shoes were kept in these lockers according to the room number.
Up next is shopping at Myeongdong and a trip to the post office.
