20 Nov 2021 - Some dishes I tried during 2020

Well, now that I am done with my posts on my trips.
I also uploaded the dishes I tried during this year, 2020.
I did the same for the dishes I tried in 2019 since CB.
You can passed all these posts if you are not interested.
I am definitely not the expert.
They are just some dishes I wanted to try and most of them are my first time trying out.

Dishes I tried using 감태

This seaweed caught my eyes when I first saw it at Chorok Market.
I keep thinking how to cook/eat it.
It looks like grass but doesn't taste like grass of course.
One day, I saw this seaweed used in "Baek Jong-won's Alley Restaurant 2021 ep 300" in viu.
You bet I was so happy!
So I bought the seaweed and tried cooking it like one of the contestants in the show.
The contestant used this seaweed to make it into a pesto for pasta.
Now I can understand what Koreans mean when they say they can taste the sea.
Of course, my 감태페스토파스타 Gamteh pesto pasta will not be as nice as the one cooked by the contestant but I am very happy that I get to know and use this ingredient.

Not long later I saw from https://www.facebook.com/sogoodk.sg/ selling Gamteh ^^
It says Gamteh is an edible sea plant that only grows on the cleanest mudflats.
They’re rich in fiber and contain six times more calcium than milk, in addition to an abundance of minerals that aid with calcium absorption.
Gamtae is very lightly and carefully roasted over an open fire, preserving its strong, bitter green and oceanic notes.
It can be sprinkled on salads and sashimi, added to soups, wrapped with rice or meat, eaten with Ganjang Gejang and much more! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Wow so many sheets in one pack.

My ingredients used were slightly different from the contestant in the show.
I roasted the pine nuts and grilled some dried shrimps and anchovies(without oil).
Blend them with the Gamteh pieces and olive oil.
I used the entire blended mixture into my pasta for 3 persons.
This was a mistake cos the paste was too salty even though I did not add any seasonings.
Probably becos of the dried shrimps.
I think half of this amount would be sufficient.
Clams were prepared beforehand.
Stir fried chopped onions.
Add in the clams.
Add in the pesto and cooking cream.
Mum said the pesto was nice ㅋㅋㅋ
This one was done by the contestant in the show.
Mine looks far far from it hahahahaa
The other dish I tried using Gamteh was this Gamteh egg roll 감태 계란말이.
Not difficult at all although my egg roll looks ugly.
Check out this blogger, whose Gamteh egg roll looks much nicer lol

Up next is 감태 주먹밥 Gamteh rice balls.
Tear up the Gamteh sheets.
Mix sesame oil and sesame seeds into the cooked rice.
I added spam into my rice balls.
Complete meal ^^
The white topping on the Gamteh rice balls is mayonnaise.
Her 감태 주먹밥 are much cuter and nicer ㅋㅋㅋ
As always ^^
Actually, I love my mandu cooked in this manner but troublesome when it comes to cleaning up.
I only likes cooking, I dun like washing up hahahahaa

One can also use Gamteh for kimbap.
Instead of using the usual seaweed sheets, can use Gamteh sheets.
Next time, I will try the side dish using Gamteh ^^

My 애호박 pasta

Got this from FINEST.
Gonna try cooking this with pasta today.
Stir fried onions with the incubator pumpkin and leek.
Add in some slices meat.
Again, I did not add any seasoning except for Korean chili flakes cos the incubator pumpkin and onions are tasty enough.

Pumpkin day

Got this from FINEST
I steamed the pumpkin (without removing the skin) and blended it with milk.
The skin is not hard at all, edible and very nutritious.
So delicious looking!!
Stir fried Korean asparagus with Korean mini pumpkin ^^
I did not add any seasonings at all but this tasted superb!

Trying out Mugwort dishes

Have been aiming my mom's Mugwort for some time hahaha
So I tried cooking Mugwort soup using pork rib.
And also Mugwort Kimchi pancake.
My mugwort kimchi pancake tasted better than my mugwort soup lol
I mixed this with rice.
Water as usual.

Mugwort tteok

Got this from Sing Sing Mart cos I love tteok especially Mugwort tteok.
행복해^^

Kimchi & red bean bun

Quite ok and a bit spicy.
This was nice too.
The bun was soft and the red bean filling was quite a lot.
But I was hoping it will have the salted taste (not that salty just slightly salted) which I ate before on Nami Island.

My all time favorite mandu

Gonna pair this Chestnut Makgeolli with steamed mandu though they are not a good combination lol
My favorite ^^
Yummyyyyyy ~ ~
Love to dip them in black vinegar, minced garlic, coriander leaves, chilli powder and a bit of soy sauce.
Still preferred the ones without kimchi.
Steamed mandu are easier to cook and more healthy I guess.
