19 Oct 2013 - 오나와???

Plan for the evening was to check out the Flame Grass Festival at Skypark. What is Flame Grass Festival ?? I am not sure until now. I was attracted by the festival after looking at a picture posted on the guest house FB. I took the subway to World Cup Stadium station, exit 1. According to FB, the festival was held at 하늘공원 Haneul Park. Hmmm...sounds familiar. I went for the Seoul Eulalia Festival last Autumn. Directions to the Haneul Park stated in my previous post, Getting to Haneul Park. 

Looks like there's a festival going on at the carpark next to the stadium.

I reached this zigzag stairway, stopped to take a picture.
At that very moment, the lanterns at the stairway were lit up!
우와...it was like magic to me!

Anyone who wanted to go up to the park were directed to take this route instead of the stairs.         

The line moved but very very slowly becos half of the walking trails were fenced off.
It was not like this when I came last Autumn. 

Perhaps some people in the line had the same thought as me.
Where are we heading to?
What's ahead for us??

A few people including myself stopped to take pictures of the night scenery.

The rest simply walked on in small steps.

I would not even call it strolling. 

It was more like following the person in front.

Alright...I know...I have to fly back to SG tomorrow...sigh....Before I know it, I have come to the stairway ie the way out!! I heard a Korean lady said to her mother, "오나와?"
That's it?? That's all to see?? Just a walk around the park??? The slow walk took about 30mins. This was the same place where I visited Seoul Eulalia Festival last Autumn. I think Seoul Eulalia Festival 2013 was held from 18 Oct till 27 Oct but this was not what I saw last Autumn. Although I did not stayed for the night previously, I think it was not just a walk around the park like this. I saw light up in the park and it was beautiful.

I extracted this from Visitseoul.  "In order to preserve the ecological park, Haneul Park is normally closed during the evening. But every year in October, when the field of Eulaliai grass is in bloom, Haneul Park is kept open until 10pm for the annual Seoul Eulalia Festival. Walk along the dirt paths as you wait for the magnificent sunset. Walk through the colorfully lit fields of grass then gaze down at the beautiful nightscape of the city as you sit atop the highest park in Seoul."

Am I right to say that Seoul Eulalia Festival is also the Flame Grass Festival??

19 Oct 2013 - 도시락 for lunch ^^

I took the subway to Gyeongbokgung Station, exit 2 for lunch at 통인시장 Tongin Market. Walk straight down from exit 2.

Along the way, I saw the popular 토속촌 Tosokchon on my left.
Wow...It was about 2pm and there was still a long queue.

The entrance of 통인시장 will be on your left.
It took me about 8 mins from exit 2 to reach here.

To get to the Dosirak cafe, walk straight down.
Keep a lookout for the cafe entrance on your right.

This is the entrance to the cafe.
Take the stairs up.

The door on your right was where I bought my "coins". You will need to buy a set of "coins" in order to buy your food from the different stall vendors. It is recommended to buy KRW5000 worth of coins. 

You will be given an empty plastic tray for your Dosirak after purchasing this set of coins. I think each "coin" is worth 500 won. Next, head out to the market and look for participating stall vendors who accept the coins as payment. BTW, the lady told me two "coins" for the soup and rice. The soup and rice are to be collected at the cafe when you have finished choosing the dishes for your dosirak. Hmm...so I have to keep at least two "coins" for the soup and rice?

The sign, "도시락 cafe" shows that this vendor accepts the "coins" for payment.

This stall appeared to be very popular.

I don't really fancy 떡볶이 Tteokbokki but this one looks delicious!

Quickly zoomed in to "steal" this picture from one of the customers ㅋㅋㅋ
So tempted to eat this but I knew I won't be able to finish it with my 도시락 ㅠㅠ

I was also very tempted to try this as well!!!
Her 만두 was snapped up fast.

I spent my first three "coins" on 계란 말이(rolled omelette) and spam.
Which means I have five "coins" left.

I walked over to this stall.
Oh!! 잡채 Japchae!! 감자  Potatoes!! 재육 볶음 Jeyu bokkeum!!!
Omggg I liked all of them!!
어떻게???!!!
I dun have enough "coins"!!

I was left with one "coin" after getting the 잡채 Japchae and 재육 볶음 Jeyu bokkeum ㅠㅠ 
So I had to decide to forgo the rice or the soup..

This Korea lady in front of me used cash to pay for her rice.
Ahhhaaaa....so actually, I can use cash if I used up my "coins" ^^

What a sumptuous lunch ㅋㅋㅋ
The soup was Kimchi soup.  It tasted a bit bland...
The spam tasted more like flour than meat.
Despite these, I  really enjoyed this meal very much becos it felt like home cooked food to me. 

It was already 2.40pm but the cafe was still fully packed with both tourists and locals. Fortunately, I managed to get a seat. There are more seats upstairs. I did not realised it until I settled down. 

Put back your tray and utensils after eating.

I couldn't get 떡 Tteok off my mind even though I was already full....

Ermm...it does not look very nice here but I want to show you what's inside.
I liked them all especially the green tea flavour.
Burrpppp....so full...

I walked back to Gyeongbokgung Station, exit 2 and checked out this food street which I saw earlier.
 It was about 2-3 mins walk from exit 2.

동태찜. I think its something like a fish stew.

Eatery selling 곱창 Gopchang (Intestines)and 순대‎ Sundae (Blood Sausage).

This eatery selling 칼국수 Kalguksu looks popular. 

Nothing much in this alley except eateries but since its way over lunch and too early for dinner, the eateries looked a bit quiet.

19 Oct 2013 - A relaxing morning to begin with

베이컨 치즈 토스트 Bacon Cheese Toast(KRW2500) from Isaac Toast for breakfast. Again, I did not request for the egg, so I think the egg is a standard ingredient for the toast. Hmmm...I preferred ham toast to bacon toast becos I like my bacon to be more crispy ㅋㅋㅋ

롤러 코스터 Roller Coaster was a nonsensical and hilarious show but I liked it!

After the movie, I walked towards Sinchon for Hyundai Department Store becos I still have some tax refunds to claim.

Located on the 10th floor.
It was almost 1pm. The staff had went for her lunch.
I waited for about 15mins but that's ok.
You can get cash back here for your claims.

18 Oct 2013 - Enjoying my second food delivery ^^

My 짜장면 Jjajangmyeong covered with a plastic cling flim.
그래. I requested the guest house to order 짜장면 Jjajangmyeong for my dinner.
Have been 'aiming' to have this for days ㅎㅎㅎ

This was the taste I wanted!!
Not the sweet taste, and a "shiny appearance" on the noodles due to the oil.
However, it will not taste oily.
Slurp....!! Tempted to order a second plate!!
Food delivery at Boa guesthouse will definitely be one of the reasons for me to go back again ㅋㅋㅋ

This big plastic bag came with the 짜장면 Jjajangmyeong.
I put the plate back into the plastic bag, tied it up and passed it to the reception. 

I was still hungry.
Thank goodness I bought a chocolate mousse cake from Blanc cafe on my way back ^^
Yeah..I was craving badly for a chocolate or cheese cake ㅋㅋㅋ

Mmmmmmmm...Yummy yummy ^^
It has been a simple but happy day for me becos I managed to do the things that I wanted.
