19 Mar 2014 - Exploring 신전시장 Sinjeong Sang-ga Market(Ulsan)

I took a taxi from 태화 로타리Taehwa Rotary at 10.08am to 신전시장 Sinjeong Sang-ga Market.
The starting fare was KRW2800.
The taxi uncle dropped me somewhere near the market entrance at 10.13am.
Only 5 mins taxi ride from the rotary to the market!! Woohooooo!!
The fare was still KRW2800 ㅋㅋㅋ

Hmmm.....

 신전시장 Sinjeong Sang-ga Market was like the rest of the markets in Korea.

I am always curious how the Koreans cook this kind of flat fish.

This is the first time I saw fish being displayed in this manner. 

I was tempted to eat the fried chicken...

A lot of 떡 tteok here.
They came in all kinds of shapes and colors!

I was tempted to try these as well...

I think there are a few alleys here selling different things and food.
I saw an alley selling 보리밥 Boribap, another alley selling 칼국수 Kalguksu and 국밥 Gukbap.

It looks like an abandoned alley.
Are they open a not??
Actually, some of the eateries were already opened.

I was thinking, "Is it ok for me to eat Busan Dweji Gukbap 부산 돼지국밥 here ??"  ㅋㅋㅋ

19 Mar 2014 - Taking airport bus from Gimhae Airport to Ulsan

I reached Gimhae Airport at 8.20am.
The airport bus ticket counter is located outside the arrival hall. 

Yup. This is the place.
You can buy your ticket and wait for your bus inside.

Just in case, this is useful to anyone out there....

This is the timetable for bus from Gimhae Airport to Ulsan.
The next bus will arrive at 8.30am.
Great!  I still have about 7 mins to go.

The counter staff told me to wait at P24.

Bus ticket to Ulsan.
No time stated on the ticket.
Just catch the next available bus.

I waited until 8.53am and still no sight of my bus ㅠㅠ  Impossible!! I went back to the ticket counter to ask the lady. She said I missed the bus. I was puzzled becos I was standing at P24 all the while. There is no way that the bus did not come, so I think I really missed the bus. How did I missed it??  I have no idea. Hence, I waited for the next available bus which was supposed to arrive at 9am. It arrived at 8.58am and left at 9.01am.

In three week's time, you will be very beautiful...

Reached Ulsan.
This was the first stop made at 9.42am.

A minute later, I saw Ulsan Station from far..

I did thought of taking KTX from Busan to Ulsan but the station is far from 대왕암공원 Daewangam Park. KTO told me a bus ride from Ulsan Station to the park will take about 1 hour 40 mins and I have to transfer to another bus along the way. My initial plan was to visit 간절곶등대 Ganjeolgot Gape. KTO told me it will take about 2 hours 20 mins from Ulsan station to Ganjeolgot Gape by bus, and need to transfer to another bus as well.

Greedy me had actually wanted to check out both Daewangam Park and Ganjeolgot Gape but KTO said it takes about 1 hour 30 mins by taxi to travel between the two places. It will cost about KRW40000~50000 by taxi for a single trip. I am more concern whether I can return to Busan before it gets too late, cos I tend to lost my sense of directions when night falls. In the end, I decided to give up my plan going to Ganjeolgot Gape. It was really a tough decision to choose between Daewangam Park and Ganjeolgot Gape :(

And it reached 신복로터리 Sinbok Rotary at 9.52am.
The bus driver called out the name of this stop but nobody alight.

This was where everyone got off the bus. I reached here 10.01am. The bus ride took about an hour. That was fast! Is this 태화 로타리Taehwa Rotary? The park behind this place was quite nice.

I saw Hotel Taehwa across the road.

Here's a bus stop along the main road.
 It was facing Hotel Taehwa. 

These ticket counters were beside the bus stop.
So do I buy the return bus ticket here??
I suppose so but I did not come back to buy my return ticket... 
Why?  Becos I forgot hahahahaa

Timetable for bus departing from Ulsan (태화 로타리Taehwa Rotary) and Gimhae Airport.

I think the two columns shown under Gimhae Airport departure timing is becos one is from International terminal and the other from Domestic terminal (I think so).  Feel free to correct me if I am wrong. Anyway, I took a taxi from here to 신전시장 Sinjeong Sang-ga Market at 10.08am. 

벚꽃보다 당신이 더 그리워요

My friend sent me this picture taken at 송파나루공원 - 석촌호수 (Songpa Naru Park -Seokchon lake) this afternoon. Told her to check out the place becos I love the cherry blossom there. The whole place was like a fairytale to me ㅋㅋㅋ

Saw this on KTO's FB just now :

"The cherry blossom festivals have been moved to an earlier date: 

Yeouido Cherry Blossoms Festival - Apr 5 to 10. 

Seokchon Lake Cherry Blossoms Festival - Apr 4 to 6." 

Oh oh! Somebody just posted this on FB at SG local time 10pm: 

"Yeouido Cherry Blossom Festival. Finally anounced changed schedule 3rd-13th April. *National assembly station, Line 9" 

Cherry blossoms bloom much earlier than the actual forecast this year. Seoul was much warmer this March compared to the previous years. I realised I have missed the cherry blossom by only A WEEK!!!! *Scream* 

Told 재 I am so sad that I missed the flowers by a week. 사실은 당신에게 이렇게 말하고 싶어요. 당신이 벚꽃보다 더 그립다고...

My friend whatsappt me this picture this morning.  It was taken at Seoul Grand Park. Looks like the cherry blossoms here have not really bloom yet.

19 Mar 2014 - 오징어 버거 from Lotteria

The itinerary for the day was a day trip to 울산 Ulsan for 대왕암공원 Daewangam Park and 신전시장 Sinjeong Sang-ga Market, followed by 깡통시장 Busan Bupyeong Kkangtong Night Market. The guy at the reception suggested that I should take the airport bus to Ulsan becos it will be much faster than making a trip to Nopo-dong Bus Terminal or Haeundae Bus Terminal.  Great advice but it would also mean that all my research done on getting to Ulsan is useless and I was not sure where will the airport bus drop me at Ulsan. I did an online search and it said the bus will stop at Taehwa rotary. Aiyo...where is Taehwa rotary??? How far is it away from Sinjeong Sang-ga Market or Daewangam Park??  I have a feeling it is not far from Sinjeong Sang-ga Market. Aiya heck. Just go!!

Bought this delicious squid burger 오징어 버거 from Lotteria.
Its a bit spicy but so nice ^^
I preferred this to the shrimp burger.

It was about 8am when I took the Light Rail to Gimhae Aiport. This is the view from the Light Rail. Actually, I wanted to check out 삼락생태공원 Samnak Riverside Sports Park which is not far from my hotel. Is this the one or something similar? Hmmm...maybe the scenery will be nicer in a month's time.

Taking a break from updating my blog. 

I had such strong craving for bibim guksu and decided to try making it this morning. 

My bibim sauce consisted of chopped kimchi, minced garlic, sugar, Gochujang, sesame oil, vinegar, soy sauce and roasted sesame seeds. Mix everything together.

Ta daaaaa!!!
Alright. My craving has been satisfied ^^
