18 Oct 2012 - Getting to 하늘공원 Haneul Park

After meeting Jae, I took the subway to World Cup Stadium station, exit 1.  Jae asked me whether I know how to get to Haneul Park.  At that moment, I realised,"Hey, I didn't really research on that!"  Hahahaaaa but I nodded my head.  Really happy that I can get to see Jae again and so sad to say bye to him.  The mode of depression set in once again at the thought of my last day in Seoul.  Arghhh...I don't like this feeling at all.

Homeplus!  Supermarket never fail to make me excited ㅋㅋㅋ

I didn't know which way to go from exit 1 and I got distracted by the lovely foliage ^^

Niceee!

The housings remind me of our HDB flats!

Nice place to sit back and admire the lovely foliage ^^

I decided to walk back to exit 1 and walk straight from there.

I walked towards the direction of Peace Park (평화 공원 Pyeonghwa Park).

I asked a security guard for direction to Haneul Park. He asked,"English?". I thought he could speak English and I was so happy. It turned out that he meant he couldn't speak English. Nevertheless, he was still very helpful by showing me the way to the park using hand gestures. 감사합니다!
From exit 1, walk straight until you saw the East Gate on your right. Walk up the stairs.

Keep to your left.

Keep going.

Follow the arrow.

Walk straight for about 3 mins and turn left again as shown by the arrow.

Follow the arrows.
As you reach the bottom of the pavement, turn to your right and you will see a carpark.  Walk straight for about 5 mins.

Walk through the carpark.

Ok, I am in the correct direction ^^

Saw the zigzag stairway on the hill?  When you walk past the carpark, you will see this zigzag stairway from far. It should be somewhere on your right if you are coming from my direction. I asked an 아저씨 for directions again. I was so surprised when he pointed to the stairway and said,"Many many stairs!"  Hahahaaa This 아저씨 was very cute. 너무 감사합니다,아저씨.  It will take about 10-15 mins from the stadium to reach here.

Walk towards the zigzag stairway. Haneul Park is up there.

Ready, get set...Go!

하늘계단 Sky stairs.
So there are a total of 290 steps to reach the sky?  Hur Hur

View from the stairway.

18 Oct 2012 - 너무 행복해 ^^

18 Oct 2012 is a happy day for me becos I can get to see Jae ^^  We met up at Express Bus Terminal for lunch becos Jae had to work thereafter. Again, I totally forgotten to take pictures whenever I am with my Korean friends. I was just too happy to see him ^^

We went to this place which is something like a food court.

A good varieties of food available here and I chose curry donkatsu from Saboten!
Yeah something which I can also eat in Singapore ㅎㅎㅎ
I didn't know that I have to eat in the restaurant until Jae helped me to collect my food from the restaurant.

Yes, I was able to consume my food out of the restaurant.
재, 고마워요 ^^

Halfway through my meal, I suddenly remember that I have not took a picture of our food.  Jae's bibimbap looks good. My curry tonkatsu was also delicious! I thought my donkatsu looked cute ㅋㅋㅋ  We spent a good two hours catching up. Really thankful to Jae for taking time off to meet me despite his busy schedule.

17 Oct 2012 - Last minute shopping at Lotte Dept

After my early dinner at Hyehwa, I took the subway back to Euljiro 1(il)-ga station for last minute shopping of kimchi at Lotte Dept. Ya...my mother, sister and sister in law etc were waiting for me to buy their favourite kimchi back. Strangely, I am not a big fan of kimchi. I can do with or without it. Mum said the kimchi which I sent back was not salty, unlike the ones we bought in Singapore.  However, the ones which I bought in Korea has a shorter shelf life than those we bought in Singapore. Maybe that is why it is not salty.

Supermarket has always been my favourite place especially when I go overseas ^^

I bought this cos its delicious!
Anchovies, garlic slices and sunflower seeds.
Bought 4 small boxes.  Each box cost about SGD$5 at 100gram.
The lady gave me a bit more for each box.

She said, "Service" which I think it means something extra for the customers.
고맙습니다 ^^

Waaa....so many banchan!!
I wish I can buy all of them!!

Readily packed banchan.

Omg....이은 무엇입니까?
They looked so yummy but I was still feeling full from my dinner..
I will try one of this in my next trip!  꼭!!

A tour around Lotte Dept left me feeling more depressed..
I love cakes and I wish I can eat them all!

Next trip!  I will eat you up even if I am full!

Healthier option ㅋㅋㅋ

17 Oct 2012 - Early dinner at 성북동 돼지갈비집

I took the subway to Hyehwa Station, exit 2.
From exit 2, walk straight for 2 mins to reach that bus stop(as shown by the arrow) for bus no. 2112.

I was at the bus stop nearest to Hyehwa Station, exit 2 and I have to alight at 쌍다리앞.  The arrow is pointing to 마로니에공원 Marronnier Park, where exit 2 is also the exit to the park . Actually, I don't understand this bus route. There was no indication of my location cos usually there will be a red marking to indicate. In this instance, it seems like I was going in the opposite direction.  Hahahaa....On top of that,  I was also  puzzled to see two Hyehwa stations on the bus route. Perhaps different exits of Hyehwa Station or some landmarks near the station.  I don't know what makes me so confident to take the bus from here.  Anyway, I took bus 2112 and got off at Ssangdariap 쌍다리앞.

Here comes my bus at 3.18pm.  Announcements of the bus stop was made in Korean and English.

This was what I saw after getting off from the bus.  The bus ride took less than 10 mins.

Looking around the surroundings..

From the bus stop, I need to cross the road to get to Seongbukdong Dwaejigalbijip 성북동 돼지갈비집 for my dinner.

It took me 3 mins from the bus stop to reach here.  I came to know about Seongbukdong Dwaejigalbijip 성북동 돼지갈비집 from VisitSeoul.

I am going to have my early dinner.  What about them??
Unlike in Singapore, I noticed Korean restaurants are not closed in the afternoon.

Oh yeah..a super early dinner for me ㅎㅎㅎ

1) 돼지갈비백반 Dwejigalbi Baekban (set meal with grilled pork ribs) KRW7000
2) 돼지불백 Dweji bul baekban (set meal with spicy stir-fried pork) KRW6500
3) 주물럭살백반 Jumulleok Baekban (set meal with grilled pork and soy sauce) KRW6500
4) 반반 Ban Ban ( 떡갈비 Tteokgalbi + 불백 Bul baek) KRW6500

"반반" sounds really cute!!  "반" sounds quite similar to its Chinese pronunciation, "半". I assumed Seongbukdong Dwaejigalbijip 성북동 돼지갈비집 served only pork and no beef. 반반 seems like a good choice to try more varieties but I didn't ordered that. I ordered 돼지갈비백반 Dwejigalbi Baekban instead. I love Korean baekban and this was one of the reason why I came here.

Looks good!  잘 먹고 ^^

Ummm...It felt like home cooked food  ^^
I won't say its especially delicious but I enjoyed the meal.
Meat lovers may not be satisfied becos the serving is not a lot and the meat were quite thinly sliced.

Facing the main road, turn to your left and walk to the bus stop as shown in this picture.

That's the red marking I was talking about.
I didn't alight at the same bus stop becos I thought I have reached Hyehwa Station.
Hahahaa...it is still Hyehwa Station but different locations to the train station.

I got off at this bus stop, 혜화역. 서울연극센터 (장면총리가옥) as shown in the above picture.

신선설농탕 Sinseon Seolneongtang is behind the bus stop.

I walked further up and saw this.  Oh, I came here before.
Okie, I knew my location ^^
