24 Mar 2014 - 새우 죽 for breakfast

I felt much better today and went to the post office at Hajeong Station, before heading out to 양수리. Jiwon told me EMS does not provide pick-up service at her area so I have to make a trip to the post office ㅠㅠ  The Tourist Information Centre told me there are two post offices in Hongdae. One inside Hongik University and the other somewhere around Hongik Univ Station exit 6. It was about 10 mins walk from the apartment to this post office at Hapjeong. It is located along the main road, between Hapjeong Station exit 3 & 4.  

Next, I went to 본죽 Bonjuk for my breakfast.

This outlet is located along the main road, two mins walk from Hapjeong Station, exit 2.

Woww....now you can have cheese topping at only KRW1000!
 This is good news for me cos I love cheese!!
Errmmm....but for time being, I have to give this a miss since I have not fully recovered ㅠㅠ

Memorial hall in Spore for Sewol ferry victims

I went to the Korean Association at Tanjong Pagar to pay respect to the ferry victims just now after work. According to Asianewsnet.net, a memorial hall has been set up for the victims of the April 16 Sewol ferry disaster by the Korean Association in Singapore, for the public to pay their respects, offer prayers and donate money to the affected families. The memorial hall and donation box are open to all from 9am to 9pm on weekdays and from 10am to 5pm on weekends from now until May 9.

23 Mar 2014 - Meeting 란 ^^

I went back to the apartment to rest before meeting 란. 란 is a friend whom I met under Banpo Bridge. I wrote about How I met 란 about 2 years ago.  I couldn't remember when I met her(Ooppsss!!) but 란 remembered ㅋㅋㅋ  미안. Time flies. It has been 2 years since I knew her. We usually communicate thro Kakao and hardly meet up but somehow she always know what's on my mind without me saying much. 란 always say I know what's on her mind too. Really?? She said she is very thankful to know me under the bridge that day. I think I should be the one who is very thankful to know such a wonderful friend. I hope everything goes well for her ^^  

Unfortunately, my stomach did not get any better. I feel the "washing machine" in my stomach whenever I eat or drink. However, I didn't want to disappoint her and really hope to meet her in this trip. 란 suggested BBQ 곱창, which is something that I have always wanted to try. I told her I have to give it a miss this time becos of my condition. I suggested 노을카페 Noeul cafe at Dongjak Station instead. I really miss the place a lot becos of a special person. 란 was keen to check out the cafe becos she has never been there before. Hmm....

We met up at Dongjak Station, exit 2 at 6.15pm.
란 told me she has called to make a reservation.
You need to order food when you make a reservation.

They placed some chairs and tables here but it was too cold to stay here for long.

Actually, I couldn't eat as I could feel the "washing machine" in my stomach again.
We had to order food becos we made a reservation.
Hence, Spaghetti Bacon Carbonara for 란 and Spaghetti Vongole for me.
The food was pretty good although I did not finish it. 

란 called for a reservation and we were given seats facing the river.
However, we felt it was too cramped as we had to sit shoulder to shoulder with others.
I remembered 재 said, "Those seats are for couples." Oh well...
Anyway, 란 and I decided to go one level up and she chose this place!
Familiar???
Yeah!  The same place where 재 and I had sat!
재, 나는 당신이 너무 그리워요...

We ordered some drinks as well.

란 asked if its ok for me to take a walk across the bridge after our meal.
Walking is not a problem for me but I can feel my stomach churning.
I told her,"좋아" but slowly.

I was really scared to go near the railings ㅎㅎㅎ
I told her I will walk on the right side, and she walked on the left ㅋㅋㅋ

So instead of taking the subway from Dongjak station, we walked to Ichon Station.
It took us around 35mins to reach Ichon Station.
Otherwise, it would probably take about 20mins.
Felt so apologetic towards 란 that we had to walk so slowly becos of me.
Actually, it did not feel like a 35 mins walk to me becos we had so much to talk about!! 
Despite my churning stomach, I was very happy to see 란 again ^^

On my way back, I bought medicine for diarrhoea from the pharmacy becos I did not bring enough medicine from SG. This bottle of medicine is to be taken together with the pills only for the first consumption. How does it taste like?? It tasted like Chinese medicine although it does not look like Chinese medicine at all! 
I went to the doctor after coming back to SG and came to know that I was not suffering from food poisoning but rather stomach flu. Omg...no wonder I could not eat much for a week after returning back to SG.

23 Mar 2014 - 곤드레나물밥 for lunch

Don't have much appetite but I think I can have some food. Thus, I went to 옹달샘 for my lunch. The nearest subway station for 옹달샘 is Sangsu Station, exit 1.

It took me about 7 mins from Sangsu Station, exit 1 to reach 옹달샘.

The dotted line represents the route I took to reach 옹달샘. Surprisingly, I stumbled upon Honey Bowl, a cafe for Brunch. Honey Bowl was also one of the places that I wanted to check out. For now, I will save it for my next trip back HOME ^^

The waitress gave me a menu in Korean and was lost for words when I spoke in English. She told her colleague to help her as she does not speak English. She was not rude at all ^^ She gave me a menu in English. Her colleague came over and told me that there is only one dish available for one person ie 곤드레나물밥. I think 곤드레나물밥 is a vegetarian dish whereby, rice is cooked together with a type of vegetable. Mix some Korean sauce into the rice and eat ^^ Not really a pure vegetarian dish becos the sauce contains spring onion and perhaps garlic. Actually, I came with the intention to eating this dish ^^

A very satisfying meal which includes the veggie rice, 된장 찌개 Doenjang Jjigae and 전 ^^ If I did not remember wrongly, this meal cost KRW6000. Despite my lack of appetite, I think the veggie rice mixed with Korean sauce was really delicious!!! I have been thinking of cooking it but I don't think I can get that veggie in SG  ㅠㅠ 

I went to 조계사 Jogyesa Temple to give thanks after lunch.

Really felt blessed and thankful to be able to come back to my second home once again. I am not a rich person. I do not have flawless porcelain skin, a great figure or a pretty face but I am deeply thankful for many things given to me in life. There are many things in life that I took for granted and I want to remind myself to live my life with gratitude always.

23 Mar 2014 - Getting to Lotte Premium Outlet

I woke up with no appetite but I knew I have to eat something. Jiwon provides bread, jam and milk for breakfast, so I decided to take my breakfast before going out. Sob...내가 우유를 좋아 I love milk but I couldn't drink milk becos my stomach was not feeling any better. My fever has subsided. Still feeling weak but slightly better than yesterday. Actually, I had no idea what's wrong with me. I didn't think I was sick ㅎㅎㅎ I only feel very weak and I have never felt this way before. Maybe it was food poisoning but then again, why FEVER? It never crossed my mind that I should see a doctor becos I brought some medicine from Sg for fever and diarrhea. I kept my itinerary simple for the day. First, a visit to Lotte Premium Outlet, followed by giving thanks at 조계사 Jogyesa Temple and meeting my dear friend, 란. Lotte Premium Outlet is nearer to Hongdae, while Paju Premium Outlet is further down. Decided not to travel too far away as I didn't feel I have the energy to do so.

I got on bus no. 2200 for Lotte Premium Outlet at 10.43am. You can use Cash Bee card for your bus fare. I got off at Eche Shopping Mall bus stop, which was the wrong bus stop at 11.08am. Well, that's fine. It is still walking distance to Lotte Premium Outlet. I think it took me less than 10 mins to reach the Premium Outlet from Eche Shopping Mall bus stop. The building in this picture is Lotte Premium Outlet. You can see it from Eche Shopping Mall bus stop. It will be on your left, with your back facing the road. 

I didn't plan to shop but just to check out the place.

22 Mar 2014 - Too weak to do anything

I am an early bird but I couldn't get out of bed until 1pm. It never happened to me and I thought the credit goes to Jiwon's bed.  I just couldn't get out of bed no matter how much I tried. At the same time, my stomach was not feeling well. I went to the toilet a few times and threw up once. I didn't think that I was sick but I just didn't feel like eating anything or doing anything. All I wanted to do was to sleep, sleep and sleep. At around 1pm, I decided that I have to get out of bed so that I don't waste a day. Pulled myself out of the bed and prepared myself for shopping at Edae and Sinchon.

I couldn't eat or drink cos my stomach churns when I drink. "Fortunately", I didn't have the appetite to eat anything. Despite the "washing machine" in my stomach, I still make it to Myeongdong to do some shopping!! I am so impressed of myself till now. I ate some medicine which helps to control diarrhoea, and I did not threw up anymore. I decided that I have to eat something for dinner. Therefore, I went to this place in Myeongdong where I had 감자탕 previously.

해물순두부 is my all time favourite and this was tasty.
However, I couldn't finish it!!
No appetite and feeling feverish ㅠㅠ
This was when I realised that I am sick....

21 Mar 2014 - 깐부치킨 for dinner

I went to Lotte Mart at Seoul Station after meeting 재. This time I used the EMS postal service inside Lotte Mart to post back my purchases right after I made my payment. I'm not used to leave a supermarket empty handed!  Lol I packed my things and sealed them in a box. However, the postal service counter staff told me she has to check the contents before they can post out. Therefore, you need not seal the box. Just tape the bottom and leave the cover untaped. They will seal the box after they have checked.

Did you notice I have not mentiion about food for the whole day?? Yeah cos I did not feel hungry at all. Told you right?? The amount of food which I have eaten in Tongyeong can last me for days ㅎㅎㅎ I was not hungry but I decided to buy fried chicken from 깐부치킨, which was near where I stayed. 

         

I took the Arex from Seoul Station back to Hongik University Station. I told 재 that I always get lost when trying to take the Arex from Seoul station to Hongik. I remember what he said, "Try one more time".  재, I made it this time ㅋㅋㅋ 

Don't be mistaken. Its not difficult but a bit confusing for me.

I turned left immediately after I came out from Hongik University Station, exit 2. Walk straight for about 3 mins and you will see the zebra crossing as shown. Cross the road and turn left again. Walk straight for about 2 mins and you will see 깐부치킨 Kkanbu Chicken.
