29 Aug 2014 - Checking out Seoul City Wall Museum 한양도성박물관

I went to the new Seoul City Wall Museum after getting my train ticket from Seoul Station. Actually, this was not what I had planned.  I wanted to go somewhere further but the weather did not look good. I didn't want to spend my evening drying my shoes again.. The dotted line was the route I took from Dongdaemun Station, exit 1. Its less than 5 mins walk.

I am not a museum-goer but I think this place will give you a good knowledge on the history of Seoul City Wall.

Nothing much in this museum but its good to drop by if you are nearby checking out the fortress wall. 

29 Aug 2014 - Buying train ticket to Yeongdong station

 There were a few cafes and a small canteen in KLI.  I decided to try the canteen food for lunch today. This was my 된장 찌개 Doenjang Jjigae for lunch. Only 3500 won. School canteen food are always cheaper right? I think this was pretty delicious but my classmate thought otherwise. 

After class, I went to Seoul Station to buy my ticket for tomorrow's day trip to 영동 for 영동 포도축제 Yeongdong Grape Festival. I took the bus from "Ehwa Womans Univ Back Gate". There were many buses going to Seoul Station from here. Ehhh I forgot which bus I took.

"Ehwa Womans Univ Back Gate" bus stop is in the middle of the road.

The bus ride took about 8 mins.

I did not attempt to buy ticket from the kiosk though..

There was only standing ticket left from Seoul Station to 영동 Yeongdong station. The train journey is about 2 hours 30mins but I grabbed the ticket anyway. The next available time with seating was too late for me. Fortunately, there were seats available for my return trip.  If you do not mind sitting on the floor in the train, you can do that but please do so without causing any obstruction. There will be standing areas in the train and its usually in between the compartments where the toilet is located...I saw people using newspaper as seat mat on the floor. For me? Nah...I stood throughout the whole journey.

28 Aug 2014 - 풀무원 라면

Did you see the bottles of Kaya?

Yeah. I always bring Kaya for my Korean girl friends whenever I come back. They love Kaya. This time, I also brought one bottle for my Air BnB host, Yoni who told me she also likes Kaya a lot. I am glad I bought the right souvenir. I did not buy Ya Kun Kaya becos I don't like the taste of it. It tastes too eggy for me. Nevertheless, Ya Kun packaging is more presentable. Usually, I buy Kaya from NTUC which is cheap and good. No doubt, Kaya are heavy to bring along in my luggage but I think its well worth the effort. 

Its vegan day for me today, so I am keeping my meal simple.
Don't get me wrong.
Of course, there are vegan eateries and cafes in Korea but I wanna try this 라면.

I added some mushrooms and chillies into my 라면 ^^ This brand is not bad. I like the noodles cos its not the thick noodles. This brand has 짬뽕 Jjampong flavour too and I think its pretty tasty. Alright, its time for revision again and errmmmm 런닝맨 of course!

I watched 런닝맨 everyday because there were repeated shows from day to night. When I woke up in the morning, its 런닝맨. When I was going to bed at night, its still 런닝맨!  It made me laugh a lot even if its a repeated show ㅎㅎㅎ Well, I only watch 런닝맨 whenever I am back in my second home. Yeah, I hardly watch 런닝맨 in SG cos I am too busy doing my research and blog updates.

28 Aug 2014 - Pottery Class

Schedules for pottery and cooking class at the lobby.
Cooking class!!!  I certainly look forward to it!!

I thought it was nice of the school to organise cultural activities for us ^^ Though I am not an Art person but I don't mind to experience pottery making once again. This was my second time to experience pottery. The first time was really pottery making back in SG. Whereas here in KLI, was only painting the raw pottery.

The teacher told us that the pencil drawings will disappear after the pottery went through burning.
He also suggest that it will not be advisable to paint the background.

But his advice came too late cos I was already halfway through painting the background ㅠㅠ  Anyway, you can see that I don't have talent for art  ㅎㅎㅎ ㅎㅎ Ready for burning. The teachers will help us with the burning and you will get back your masterpiece on the graduation day.

28 Aug 2014 - For the red bean lovers.

Lunch at 옥루몽 after class. This outlet is along the main road, near to the back gate of the university. So happy to see they have an outlet near the school becos 옥루몽 is on my bucket list of food to try for this trip. I saw another outlet in Hapjeong. 

I ordered the traditional red bean sherbet and the traditional red bean bread.

떡.  I wanted to buy back to Singapore but I forgotten all about it....

This 팥빙수 was really delicious!
I love the milk in it ^^ Yum Yum!

27 Aug 2014 - Cooking my own dinner

Making some kelp broth to cook my porridge. 
Yeah. I decided to cook my own dinner that evening.
So what's for dinner???
Kimchi Prawn Porridge 김치 새우 죽 and stir fried mushrooms 볶음버섯.

My Kimchi Prawn Porridge served in the little golden pot, which I bought from Daiso at 3000 won ㅋㅋㅋ  Didn't managed to bring back this pot cos I couldn't squeeze it into my luggage...

Okie, time to hit the books. Everyday, I will set aside time to revise what I have learnt for the day. 숙제 homework was given occassionally but it is neccessary to do your own revision daily. I felt it is harder for people without any knowledge of Hangul to catch up but not to worry, you can still catch up if you are diligent enough ^^ You can also practise constructing sentences at home and let your teacher check it during class. They will be most happy to help you. There were 4 papers to complete for 시험 exam. They are namely, 읽기(Reading), 쓰기(Writing), 듣기(Listening) and 말하기(Speaking). Initially, I thought "읽기" is to read out some passages and let the teacher check for reading fluency. Well, that was not the case. Basically, its set of papers(few pages) with lots of paragraphs. Read, understand the paragraphs and answer the questions in the papers. This was easy because all the paragraphs were extracted from the textbook. By the way, you must have 60 marks and above for EVERY paper in order to get the certificate. 

27 Aug 2014 - Love the Earl Grey cake at Snob cafe ^^

First day at class!
So excited!!

Although I did not talk much about my lessons and school days in KLI, but I really looked forward to class everyday ^^ I think they provide better chairs and tables nowadays as compared to few years ago. 

I went to Sangsu for 스누브 카페 Snob Cafe after class.

The cafe is rather insignificant. One can easily walk past the cafe without noticing it. The red dotted line was the route I took from Sangsu station, exit 1. 

Snob is located beside "Pinkage".

I don't know why but I craved a lot for cakes in this trip...

I ordered my cakes and went up to the second storey.
You placed your order for beverages on the second storey.

Actually, I like the settings of the cafe but there were too many people when I was there. I felt it was too noisy but it also mean that this place is popular.

26 Aug 2014 - 제 돈까스 밥 버거 에요

제 돈까스 밥 버거 에요 My Tonkatsu rice burger from 봉구스밥버거 BonGousse.
2000 won. Cheap and filling.

I warmed it up using the microwave. It would taste better if I have eaten it at the shop instead of take out. The sauce was a bit too sour. Too much sauce perhaps.

Yap. Bought my rice burger from here. They have quite a few outlets. I saw one in Sinchon too, near Yonsei University main gate. The shop was very small and packed with people. That was the reason why I decided to take out instead.

봉구스밥버거 BonGousse is about 5 mins walk from Hongik university Station, exit 9.
The shop is located on the second level. 
 You can see it along the main road. 

Spoilt for choice!

I was all wet despite having my umbrella and I spent the rest of my evening washing and drying my clothing and sneakers.

 Yoni made it easy for her guests by having these yellow stickers as markers.
I need to press only these three buttons ^^

The "tissue" which acts as the detergent came out in one piece after washing completes.

26 Aug 2014 - 마카롱 아이스크림 ^^

A hearty brunch of spam, eggs, bread and a few peach slices before going for the placement test at Yonsei KLI.

Decided to stay around Hongdae after the placement test because it looks like its going to rain soon. Yes! 앤티크 Antique!! I found it. It started pouring as I entered the shop. Should I or should I not buy the 마카롱 아이스크림 today?? It will be a hassle to carry it in the rain. Aiya. Heck! Just buy!

I came here with my mind all set to try their cheese cake flavour ice cream.
SOoooooooo disappointed when the guy told me they had only 4 basic flavours left ㅠㅠ
I forgot what time they are open.
Was it 12pm? ?

I chose vanilla flavour. It did not look as colourful as the ones I saw online.

I wish he can give me something more colourful...

My friends asked me is it very sweet since macaron and ice cream are sweet.

My reply, "Not bad. Not as sweet as you think. Its macaron + ice cream lor. I like it."
